Besford Court is small estate formerly used as a boarding school until five years ago. The main house is Grade Two * listed with an assortment of ancillary properties within the grounds. Banks Design were originally instructed by Bulldog Properties Ltd to design a range of new properties to replace existing sub-standard accommodation. Working with planning consultants Smith Stuart Reynolds and closely with Wychavon District Council and English Heritage, permission was obtained for the conversion of the Court into eight individual dwellings, a further eight conversions in estate buildings and thirty two new high quality houses. Banks Design were subsequently retained by the sites new owners, Prowting Homes, for the detailed design and construction drawings. The new owners have been keen to preserve the character and quality of the buildings and great care has been taken not only with the design but also with the natural habitat. Working with English Nature extensive measures have been put in place to protect both rare species of bats and badgers which have been found on the site. |
